The body of work IN THE RAW LIGHT is intriguing and daring. By taking photos of her own body and using these to evoke the sentiment of vulnerability, Agius is able to draw the observer into the tension of the moment. Agius has collectively put together a body of work that is both evocative in subject matter, yet delicately sensual. The Artist places herself in abstract places symbolic to her and invites the viewer to find resonance within the work through their own experience. The exhibition will include works on paper, paintings, photography and the relatively new gclee print on to canvas. Agius’s use of mixed media is both experimental yet well developed. She has created multilevel imagery reminiscent of the unearthly element of our consciousness. Agius has exhibited extensively on the east coast of Australia over the last twelve years and received awards for her design work. Michelle’s work is currently in private and public collections both locally and internationally. The exhibition will run for the duration of 4 weeks ending the first week of July. Opening night is the 4th of June, 6pm at ‘WAYWOOD GALLERY’ 3 Centennial Circuit, Arts & Ind. Est., BYRON BAY.
